Last issue, we learned Guy’s personality operates on soap-opera-amnesia rules: a second blow to the head undoes the first. He has announced his return to assholery by paraphrasing Poltergeist II and throwing Lobo through a window.

Not the MOST obnoxious movie quote he could’ve delivered. It wasn’t Monty Python. )

Answers inside, along with some truly shocking moments that seem to have taken even superhero fans who've seen it all by surprise - so in the name of all that's holy (or unholy), try to avoid spoilers for this one, even though the task may seem impossible. -- Al Ewing

I wish I could remember the specific source, but I saw a post about the JSA once describing them as "This is the Spectre, the literal embodiment of God's wrath. And this is Al. He's short and real mad about it."

Well, one page from this week's JSA 13 put me in mind of it...

Emphasis on "beats", because some fascists take a beating in this one. They take a beating to the extent that you might be worried about whether this is the Thor you know. It's not! It's Sigurd Jarlson, and he's Just Some Guy. From Norway, I think? His neighbor thinks Norway's in Europe. -- Al Ewing

Justice League International #18, on top of its usual 22 pages by its usual creative team, has a 16-page bonus feature by Mark Askwith and James/Jim Webb.. That feature is just fine, but I’m going to blow through it quick so we can devote more time and page space to Lobo.

Wow, I feel just like a real DC editor! )

I think my favorite part was realizing that Green Lantern didn't have to be a person. The Absolute Green Lantern is a large object from space that landed on a town. There are other lanterns, and they are also large objects in space. None of the people in the book are lanterns. -- Al Ewing

Minor Threats is a creator-owned series written by Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum. This issue is a solo story starring one of the characters not from Minor Threats, but from a spinoff series, The Alternates, about superheroes dealing with depression from no longer being in an alternate dimension called The Ledge, which...

Okay, look, it's a Gail Simone comic about a lobster man at a comic convention. It's got jokes and sight gags. That's all you need.

Warning for mild gore and coarse language.

Warning for broad ethnic stereotyping, suicidal dialogue.

The original Queen Bee was a creation of Gardner Fox in Justice League of America v1 #23, 1963, back in the days when the Justice League did more emoting about Snapper Carr than about having their minds taken over or an alien taking control of the entire universe.

I mean, young ol’ Snapper’s just so HEPPENIN’, cat-dad! Outtasightsville! )
