[GIP] & [LINKDUMP]

IN LIBRIS HAS BEEN UPDATED. GO READ & COMMENT & PIMP.

Mamma Mia is on the TV. I am attempting to gather research for my Cultural Landscape paper on Buffalo State Mental Hospital and the Evolution of Curative Landscapes. Which, while really interesting, is not interesting right now. I am tired. I have crap loads of work to do but I am putting off due to exhaustion.

And I also refuse to read National Register nominations this late at night.

Meanwhile, I feel like writing Supernatural fic. Maybe I will.

Kicking it Old School

That paper that I was up doing till 6 in the morning? Turns out it is due anytime next week. My life persists in amusing the hell out of me. Last night as excellent as, [livejournal.com profile] theo_winterwood and I stayed in and made dinner (fish sticks and perogies FTW). We rewatched The Maltest Falcon which was excellent the second time around. I got to introduce her to Wayne's World. That movie defined my childhood. I love being able to share it will people. Meanwhile, we are about to leave Caribou Coffee where we have been exsisting for the past, like, three hours. I did my Jude the Obscure for class on Monday. Emotastic, man. Emotastic.

Amusing quotes from my BVN readings:

He is of what is called the old school—a phrase generally meaning any school that seems never to have been young—and wears knee-breeches tied with ribbons, and gaiters or stockings. - Bleak House, Dickens

...he was in the way of getting into the groove he wished to follow. - Jude the Obscure, Hardy

Off to find Hair at MovieStop. Maybe food will happen after. Maybe. Or maybe I will starve.

Treat Williams is sexy. See above.

Reasons I am not an English Major

I am up ridiculous late/early. I am working on a paper due tomorrow at noon. I should have finished it by now. Hello, lack of concentration! Meanwhile, my professor liked my idea for my Cultural Landscape paper, so that counts as a win. I had a cheese sandwich for dinner. Which was excellent.

AND SUPERNATURAL. I will be posting a picspam/review later today after I have slept many hours. I liked the episode. I think it had its problems but I enjoyed it. ^____^

Meanwhile:

Obama is silly. All the time. Hello there Mr. President!

Hey, first all-nighter of the semester. But that is more because as of late I have to pass out early. Tonight was special? Maybe? I read some fic, had a beer, and listened to metal music loudly? Okay, paper time.

ETA: STRANGE NOISES NEED TO STOP. LIKE REALLY NEED TO STOP.

ETA2: Maybe the noises be birds? I have a feeling I am going to see the sunrise. Ah hell.

ETA3: 5:30 AM: Still awake. What happened to my concentration? Damn, it never used to be this hard to get my work done. I need to get out of this place.

Rocking this Way Down

I have a powerpoint, five page paper, and paper edit to do tonight. Yay.

Everyone check out my Graphic Novel class group's webcomic, In Libris. We will start posting actual content tomorrow but a few things are up. I am learning CSS slowly but I think I am going to have a lot of fun. I'm in charge of all the tech-y stuff for the project. I'm excited.

I wish it were Thursday. Supernatural, guys! I need the new episode.

Time to go knock out some work.

sleepytime

I need a nap or coffee. I have been up since 8 and gotten pretty much nothing done. Nothing new here.

I would even go for instant coffee right now. Oh crap. Cheap Seats Meeting. Going on now. Whoops. This is why I need coffee.

Or a nap.

Or both.

I could go get coffee but I need to put gas in my car. This is not working to my advantage.

Workload: Still Insane. Like, really insane. I'm staring at it. Oh, dear. Back to work.

FRIDAY THE !#TH: PART SPRING BREAK

[livejournal.com profile] theo_winterwood spent spring break with me up in Jersey. After learning that one of our favorite movies, Friday the 13th, was filmed in my great state, we planned a road trip. Friday the 13th was filmed about 2 hours away from where I live during breaks. The camp it was filmed at is not open to visitors but we walked around Blairstown where the opening was filmed. The trip was tons of fun. The drive up was beautiful and we stopped off at Greystone in Morristown. Which is an old asylum now shut down.

Photos from our trip with screencaps from F13 for comparison:
His Name Was Jason )

I have a TON of pictures from Blairstown and Greystone. I plan on posting some more later but felt that this picspam was needed. I also have pictures from our Red Bank trip aka the Kevin Smith Exodus!

According to this article, red heads have sex the most. Three times a week. I guess this bodes well for me in the future?

Meanwhile, good news for all of us about to graduate: a strip club in Providence is holding a job fair for 30 positions. And as amusing as I find this, people need jobs and I would be a bartender if I had the training.

The new Cafe (racer) Society is a pretty great blog about: "the motorcycle, Scooter, bicycle and Monowheel in modern culture, art, style, and design."

Tacky Weddings. Yep, self explanatory.

Even shadows fall behind.

I want to rewrite my research question for my Cultural Landscape paper. Will have to think about it. I still love my topic area.

I went to the Health Center after class. I might have the flu but the Doc thinks it's probably stress. He offered me tranquilizers and I politely declined. I sort of feel like I should not have done that but I do not want any sort of medication. It is too easy to become dependent. Doc left the option of coming back and arranging to get some. It is nice to have the option but frankly, I am too lazy to go over. Unless my symptoms get worse. If I start getting vertigo, I will have to go get some. I also got my blood sugar checked and it was awesome. Yay!

Things of Interest:
+ Christopher Walken is among us. On Twitter. And he is fabulous.
+ Edward James Olmos is amazing. - WATCH THIS. Just do it. Even if you are not into BSG.
+ There will be a Rome movie. - [livejournal.com profile] nova_paladin, you. Me.
+ New PG Porn episode. With Bree Olson!
+ Clip from Super Capers. Jimmy Olsen finally gets to be a superhero! Or, at least tries.

I realized I said I was going to disappear for a while but after realizing how sucky this month is going to be, I plan on staying.

Olmsted is my Homeboy

You all rock. My friends are seriously Grade A Awesome.

My day actually got worse. Like horrible, ohgodmylife, worse.

But then it got better because I went to Wawa for dinner. I saw a really hot motorcycle. And then I saw said motorcycle's rider who was very good looking. Which, you know, two for one! Then when I was paying, the guy who made my sandwich brought it over to me. It was sweet. Wawa is like comfort food.

Now I have to write about asylums. Or rather come up with a research question about them. And landscapes associated with them. I'm setting myself up for disaster aren't I?

Meanwhile, I actually just found some fucking AMAZING INFO. OLMSTED AND VAUX DESIGNED THE LANDSCAPE AT THE BUFFALO STATE HOSPITAL! HOLY SHIT. HOLY CRAP. CAN I WORK WITH ABANDONED MENTAL ASYLUMS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE PLZ?

HELP!

Does anyone of my Season 2 of Angel? It is missing. Please check your DVDs. If you forgot you had them, that is totally fine. I just want them back. I miss my Angel DVDs.

Meanwhile, my life currently sucks. As in my workload is astronomically high and I sort of want to shoot myself. And I keep having this fear, I'm going to fail out.

Recovering my Angel DVDs would only slighly assuage this fear. As in, not at all. BUT I WANT THEM BACK.

from [personal profile] theo_winterwood

You comment to this post, and I list five things I associate with you. They might make sense or they might be totally random — then you post that list, with your commentary, to your lj. I and other people get our lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

New Jersey

Oh, my love of Jersey. I have lived here for more or less half my life. I like it here. I probably won't stay after college but it was a pretty good place to grow up. I live halfway between Philly and New York which made for great field trips as a kid. Besides, I got the shore, Kevin Smith, and a whole host of other awesome people from here.

Jared Padelecki's award-winning jeans

OMG. THANK YOU WARDROBE DEPARTMENT OF FRIDAY THE 13th. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Never has a man's behind looked so fine. xD Friday the 13th was basically a vehicle for Jared's ass.

stoner movies

I used to dislike this genre. Now I do not. I love them hardcore. CANNOT EXPLAIN MY LOVE. BUT IT IS DEEP. [livejournal.com profile] theo_winterwood are finally making our Kevin Smith pilgrimage around Jersey. With another stop - White Castle. By the by, there is no White Castle in Mt. Holly.

quality beer

I only drink good beer. My only exception? Budweiser. In a bottle, not a can. Canned beer is crap. Light beer is crap. I don't drink to get drunk. I don't need to drink, so I will take my calories when I do. Nothing beats lazing on the couch, surfing the internet, and drinking a Blue Moon. So, conclusion: canned light beer is evil and horrible. Do not drink it. Also, dollar burger night at Capital Ale House? The best time to get a great beer and a good burger. As far as quality beer goes, I love Blue Moon. It's my favorite standard beer. Rasberry lambic is nice when you have the money for it.

burlesque

I WANNA BE IN A BURLESQUE TROUPE. I want awesome clothes. Awesome routines. I would be a awesome burlesque performer.

In which my head explodes...

TOO MUCH WORK. And not enough coordination.

I got a Venti frappuccino earlier. BAD PLAN. I felt like I had overdosed on caffeine. Usually I get a small coffee but I pulled a really late night last night and now I need to do another one. Hence need for large amount of caffeine. Yeah, no, never again.

Meanwhile, I cannot think of anything to write about for this damn webcomic book for my Graphic Novel class.

Ugh, I feel sick from the caffeine.

Bleh.

ETA: Still feel sick. Have contributed a paragraph thus far. Feel like I got painted in a corner. Still sucks hardcore. Working on a project about webcomics is inherently distracting. Must drive many hours tomorrow. Must find time to sleep.

MemeSHEEP

The Oscar were wonderful. And quote-able! The Oscar Party was fun. I would have preferred the comfort of my own chair and television but alas Cheap Seats duties. I did get a really sweet Cry_Wolf poster out of it. I don't care if the movie is bad; the poster is awesome.

How sad is it that the coolest thing that has happened as of late is me actually talking in class? It's mid-semester and I had not talked in British Victorian Novel once before today. I forced myself to try and contribute today and it was great! I always feel out of place among English majors. I got to say how Mr. Thornton is a whiny emo boy who waffles a lot. The class was highly amused. I am glad the most I have spoken this semester provoked much amusement.

And MEME:

Comment with up to five things you associate with me, and I'll ramble about them at great and pointless length, possibly with stick-figure diagrams.

DO IT. DISTRACT ME. I HAVE SO MUCH WORK TO DO.

Meanwhile North and South, the book, is proving to be so much better than the miniseries. And I frickn' love the miniseries. Mr. Thornton is ridiculously emo but lovely in his love for Margaret. Dear book, I <3 you hardcore.

I am supposed to go to a groundbreaking today for the new Eagle Village. I have no idea of the details because I was not class. Go me. I fail.

There is a season.

The Sun Sets On Famed Female Bullfighter Conchita Cintron
-Whether or not you are into bullfighting, her life is interesting. She died in Lisbon on Tuesday of a heart attack. According to Wikipedia, Orson Welles wrote in the introduction to her memoirs, "Her record stands as a rebuke to every man of us who has ever maintained that a woman must lose something of her femininity if she seeks to compete with men."

And I want a Geo Prizm. It's like the car everyone kid is supposed to get from their parents. I cannot explain the need for a car from the late 80s/early 90s.

I am strange. I realize this.
